The Grand Tourists grew out of The Marfa Municipal Alliance for Dead Country and Folk Singers, a community band in Marfa, TX with over 50 members. The Alliance host events that pay tribute to a dead folk or country legend on the day of his or her death to help local charities in immediate need. The Tourists are the main backing band for these events and are often found playin any old bar in Marfa.
